What is your disaster recovery plan?
Our primary data center is located in Bend, Oregon, east of the Cascade mountains and outside the Cascadia Subduction Zone. This is a location with minimal natural disaster risk, generally safe from flooding, tornadoes, earthquake, etc. There are multiple electric supply feeds and backup power on-site.
We use a combination of VMs and baremetal machines leased from our hosting providers. Our baremetal machines have redundant hardware components and power supplies.
Our machines send daily encrypted backups to machines in Portland, Oregon, on the west coast of the United States, and Secaucus, New Jersey, on the east coast of the United States. The data is periodically rolled off to encrypted tape for offline backup. In the event of a catastrophic hardware or software failure, we would restore service from one of these backups.
Our technical team is distributed throughout the United States, with personnel on the West Coast and in the Midwest.
